A SWEDISH BAKERY THAT SPREADS HAPPINESS ALL AROUND THE WORLD, EVERY DAY
Once upon a time, there were two men who dreamed of sailing around the world
As in all the best fairy tales, the story of Almondy begins with the words “Once upon a time…”. In our case, there were once two young men named Kent and Lennart who dreamed of building a boat and sailing around the world. One day, however, they came across a forgotten Swedish cake recipe from 1890, and the result was an irresistibly good almond cake that was unlike any other cake they’d ever eaten. This experience was to transform their lives. Their passion for sailing was replaced by a passion for baking cakes and sharing the unique Almondy tastes with others. In their name, we work to keep their dream alive, and it is now our cakes that travel all around the world. What do you think Kent and Lennart would think about this? They would love it!
MANDELBAGERIET MOVES IN, 1982
We were born from an unusually tasty slice of goodness. The discovery of a forgotten cake recipe ignited a spark within two entrepreneurs. In their eagerness to share this with others, a complete business concept soon formed.
TWO DEDICATED CAKE-CREATIVES
Kent and Lennart were driven by the twin desires of making irresistibly good cakes, with quality ingredients, and making it easy for people to enhance any occasion by adding a slice of luxury and happiness – in the form of cake.
WE BECOME KNOWN AS ALMONDY, ALL AROUND THE WORLD
It turned out that we weren’t the only ones who loved our cakes. More and more people became keen to share our experiences, and it soon became necessary for us to find ways of making delicious cakes available for all. The answer was to freeze them, which is an excellent and effective method of preservation that we still use today.
IKEA PAVES THE WAY FOR OUR DAIM CAKE
We also made the baking process more efficient, and, just as importantly, we began to develop new recipes and new cakes. In 2000, we created our Daim Cake, which would not only become hugely popular but was also featured in IKEA’s restaurants all over the world.
CONSTANT FLOW OF NEW TASTE EXPERIENCES
Today, our cakes spread happiness in a continually growing number of countries, all around the world. When our cakes are served, everyone is invited!
HAPPINESS IS A PIECE OF CAKE
It has never been easier to make any occasion a little bit better with our cakes. Or, as we like to put it: Happiness is a piece of cake.
It has never been easier to make any occasion a little bit better with our cakes. Or, as we like to put it: Happiness is a piece of cake. This sums us up quite well. Almondy’s delicious cakes make it easy to create pleasurable moments, where you can come together with family and friends and give your taste buds a treat. Our use of the phrase ‘Happiness is a piece of cake’ helps us to realise our vision of spreading happiness around the world, every day. Would you like to find out more about how we spread happiness by the medium of cake?
THE ROAD TO CONSCIOUS CAKES
The spreading of happiness also means that we are actively involved and contribute to ensuring that our planet remains a happy to place on which to live. For us, this involves the continued building of a sustainable culture, where everyone who works with us, whether directly or indirectly, shares our belief that it is by acting together that we can make a difference. In big steps, or slice by slice. One cake at a time. We simply call this: Conscious Cakes.
HIGHEST QUALITY – FROM THE RAW INGREDIENTS TO THE FINISHED CAKE
Our aim is to always maintain the highest quality, from each individual ingredient to the finished cake. The reward for our efforts is when you return to the shop to buy another Almondy cake. And then another. And then another. This is one of the reasons why we never compromise on our strict requirements where quality is concerned.
Our cakes shall be safe to eat
In line with the EU’s requirements, we work with preventive quality assurance in accordance with the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principle, which is a standardised working method whereby we map, assess and control any risks that are involved in the entire production process, from the raw ingredients to the finished cake.
Quality certification makes a difference
We have been certified in accordance with the BRC global standard for food safety since 2002, and we have also been certified in accordance with the IFS International Food Standard since 2009. Furthermore, several of our international partners and customers conduct their own scrutiny of our cakes, which is of course something we welcome.
